Lindsay Lohan is planning to Appeal Jail Sentence

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Lindsay Lohan has reportedly split with lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley just as the actress is planning to appeal her 90-day jail sentence handed down earlier this week in Los Angeles Superior Court.

TMZ reported that Chapman Holley resigned as Lohan’s lawyer, effective Thursday. The actress has reportedly since hired Tiffany Feder-Cohen, who will appeal Lohan’s sentence. Feder-Cohen was admitted to the State Bar last year.

On a Twitter account belonging to Feder-Cohen, she Tweeted in December she was “Starting a new practice, deep breath, almost ready,” adding, “here I go!”

A person who answered the phone at Feder-Cohen’s office could not confirm that the lawyer was representing Lohan, and told Access Hollywood that they were just taking messages.

An assistant for Chapman Holley told Access Hollywood that a statement was forthcoming, while a rep for Los Angeles Superior Court was not immediately available for comment when contacted by Access.

Another star who landed in jail previously, Paris Hilton, similary announced plans to appeal her sentence back in 2007, when a judge found her in violation of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. She, too, switched lawyers, hiring Richard Hutton, after being given the 45-day jail sentence in 2007. A spokesperson for the courts said in May 2007, however, that Hilton had abandoned her appeal.

Hilton’s jail sentence came as a result of a probation violation. She was on 36 months probation for a prior DUI arrest when she was stopped twice by officers who discovered she was driving on a suspended license. The second stop landed her in court, where an LA Superior Court Judge sentenced her to the 45-day jail stint

Lindsay Lohan: factfile

Former child star Lindsay Lohan has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating her probation on crimes of drunken driving in 2007. Here are some facts about Lohan and her brush with the law:

=) Born July 2, 1986, in New York, Lohan started modelling at age three. Her parents divorced in 2007. She made her feature film debut at age 11 in "The Parent Trap" (1989), playing both twin girls who scheme to reunite their estranged parents.

=) Made more than a dozen movies including "Freaky Friday," "Mean Girls," "Bobby" and "I Know Who Killed Me."

=) Recreated Marilyn Monroe's final photo shoot in a 2008 magazine spread that proved controversial because of its partial nudity.

=) Released two music albums and was hired by Emanuel Ungaro to design a (widely derided) fashion collection in 2009.

=) At age 17, Lohan was the youngest host of the MTV Movie Awards. Won 16 industry awards, including a Screen Actors Guild ensemble cast trophy for "Bobby," a 1999 Young Artist award, two MTV Movie awards and three 2007 worst actress Razzies.

=) Despite a formal scolding in 2006 for partying and late arrivals on the "Georgia Rule" film set, producer James G. Robinson later called Lohan "one of the most talented young women in the movie business today."

=) 2007 saw Lohan arrested twice for driving and drug offenses, and she entered rehab three times. Sentenced to one day in jail but spent only 84 minutes behind bars.

=) Was placed on three years probation in 2007 for charges of drunken and reckless driving. In October 2009, that probation was extended for one year.

=) Lohan missed a court appearance in May 2010, claiming she had lost her passport while on a trip to the Cannes film festival. California Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel issued an arrest warrant, but later revoked it.

=) Judge Revel orders Lohan to wear an alcohol monitoring ankle bracelet, which detected she had been drinking alcohol at a party following the MTV Movie Awards in June. On Twitter, Lohan claimed she had not been drinking, but judge Revel issued another arrest warrant and again, revoked it later.

=) Judge Revel orders Lohan to serve 90 days in jail for violating her 2007 probation and told the actress to surrender to authorities on July 20. Lohan wept in court.
