Lindsay Lohan Sobs Over 90-Day Jail Term

Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan burst into tears after being sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating her probation for drink driving offences.

The Mean Girls movie actress must report to a prison on July 20, Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel ordered. She also told Lohan to attend a 90-day residential substance abuse programme once she has completed her jail term.Lohan, 24, sobbed bitterly after hearing the sentence.Earlier, she had tearfully begged for forgiveness after failing to attend alcohol education classes, which were part of her probation conditions set out by the same judge.

"I am not taking this as a joke. This is my life. It is my career. It is something I have worked for all my life," Lohan pleaded.But Judge Revel, before sentencing the actress, said: "I couldn't have been more clear, and it wasn't done."The alcohol education classes were imposed after Lohan was arrested for cocaine possession and two drink driving offences in 2007. She spent 84 minutes in jail in that year, as part of her sentence, and was given three years' probation.

Lohan first found fame aged just 11 years old after starring in The Parent Trap film. She was considered one of Hollywood's most talented young actresses.But her career, at its height during the 2003 and 2004 movies Freaky Friday and Mean Girls, has since gone downhill.Her latest project is playing 1970s porn queen Linda Lovelace in a film that was due to start shooting this summer. Lohan's hard-partying ways have proved steady fodder for celebrity gossip websites.
